Gary Jo

Gary Jo's Fijian island heritage shines in his personality. He is inquisitive, industrious, easy going, curious, charasmatic, courageous, and joyful. Despite the medical challenges he faces, he always has a smile on his face. He is so determined! We weren't sure whether he even would walk at first, but he worked so hard in physical therapy and took his first steps at 18m. This little one has never met a problem he cannot solve!

Gary Jo is happiest when he is surrounded by, or making, music. He loves strumming the ukulele and guitar with his Tata (dad). We joke that he got the best of both of us - his father learns music by ear and his mom is classically trained. He will sign music and show you what song he wants through hand motions. He also loves being outside, playing with his balls, and talking to his family in Fiji on the phone with his dad. In fact, he never stops talking in either language - Fijian or English!

Gary had a rough start to life and still has a lot of medical unknowns. We've seen countless specialists to find out why he is so tiny. We are thankful to being closer to finding answers. Gary was originally in a fabulous daycare, but got so sick so often that he stopped gaining any weight and missed his milestones. We had to pull him out and hire a nanny. We still have medical bills though from that first year. We would also love to enroll him in music therapy classes.
