Matilda

Matilda was born a tiny and mighty warrior (her name literally means “mighty in battle!”) She proves each day how strong, intelligent, and determined she is. Her infectious smile and ability to charm each person she meets radiates joy to all. She is extremely social and loves making friends with her playful and silly demeanor. Although she has accessories, such as her tracheostomy and g-tube, she makes it known that those are the least interesting things about her!

Matilda’s favorite activities are playing, learning, and snuggles! She is a natural extrovert and always wants someone nearby to bounce back her vocalizations and goofy faces. She loves reading books, along with turning (and tasting) each page. As a keen observer, her cats are fascinating beings to keep an eye on at all times. Lately, she has been able to try her speaking valve (PMV), which assists in vocalizing, creating new sounds, and being loud. Sometimes she even surprises herself!

Winning $25,000 would impact our family immensely. Matilda spent 306 days in the NICU, creating emotional and financial hardship on our family. This would allow us to provide experiences and create memories as a whole family now that she is home! It would assist us in covering unexpected medical costs that may arise over the course of her childhood. Most of all, the winnings would facilitate in securing a future for Matilda. She is exceptionally capable, competent, and unbound by life’s start.
